Microbiology & Immunology

Welcome to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We utilize innovative approaches which stimulates critical thinking, intellectual discovery and promotes development of life-long learning skills in our teaching of basic and applied aspects of infectious diseases and host defense mechanisms. An integrated clinically oriented approach is a guiding principle which we adopt in teaching undergraduate medical students in the pre-clerkship and clerkship phases about infection and immunity.

Beyond the College of Medicine, we have the opportunity to contribute to the training of the next generation of scientists as we also offer general microbiology and immunology courses to undergraduates in the College of Science at Alfaisal University. We are also expanding our contribution to postgraduate training in Alfaisal University and from September 2014, we will commence a graduate program in Infection Control and Prevention under the auspices of the Masters in Biomedical Science. This is a research oriented department and we are currently engaged in several funded research projects with local and international collaborations.
